How parents, family and a wali can help
Create a family-managed profile with consent, make clear who is speaking and learn how the optional guardian feature works.
Ask permission before creating a profile
Parents, siblings and guardians can help someone look for a rishta. First ask the person getting married what they want and what they are comfortable sharing. Enter their details, not the details of the relative managing the account.
Say who is managing the profile
Choose the correct profile manager when registering. If a parent is writing a message, introduce them as the parent. This helps the other person understand who they are speaking with.
Use the guardian feature if you want to
A guardian is optional on Hamsar. You can enable the feature in Settings and invite a trusted person by email. With your consent, they can read chats. Both participants see that a guardian is present. You can turn it off or remove the guardian.
Help without putting pressure on either person
Discuss practical questions and give both people time to decide. Do not demand photos, private documents or an immediate answer. The person getting married must agree at every stage.
Separate app settings from religious guidance
The guardian setting controls access to chats. It does not decide religious requirements for a nikah. For guidance about your own circumstances, speak with a qualified scholar you trust.
These notes are general guidance for families. For a religious ruling, legal advice, or immigration advice, please speak with someone you trust in that field.
